Origin verifications within the Free Trade Agreements signed into by Mexico
 
   

Mexico participates in Free Trade Agreements with the most important economies of the world, so trough certificates of origin the goods are in position to receive preferential tariff treatment at the moment of its importation into the Mexican territory.

The authorities of the Parties of the Free Trade Agreements carry out Origin Verifications in order to confirm that the goods contained at the certificate of origin, fully comply with the rules of origin, restrictions and the norms according to Free Trade Agreements, and in doing so, determine if the goods are originating or not from the region.

The procedures to verify the origin of the goods and determine whether or not the tariff preference is applicable it is made in most Free Trade Agreements by the following methods:

a)Origin verification questionnaire to an exporter and /or producer.

b)Verification visits to the premises of an exporter or a producer.

c) Verification solicitude to the authority of the exporting country.
