Because of the great commercial flow between México and its commercial partners in a free trade agreement, and in consequence a great number of operations and variety of goods traded, in order to perform an origin verification correctly, in some occasions a great amount of supporting documentation is requested, necessary to proof the originating status of the goods.
In connection with the above, it should be noted that SAT will apply, during its origin verification procedures a “selective sampling”, in order to obtain representative documentation sufficient to resolve correctly the verification, making said procedure less complicated with the exporter.
The representativeness and quantity of the selective sampling will depend on the nature of the goods under verification, being the reason why the decision to ask for a selective sample is reached on a case by case basis. In order to determine the amount of supporting documentation to be provided, we advice that, if you are the exporter of NAFTA goods to México, and your goods are being verified, please contact the administration in charge of your case at the contacts link.
